About Vector Thinking

I'll be using this blog to explore and expand a bit of philosophy that's been brewing below the surface of my life and work for quite a while. I'll be organizing my thoughts around the concept of a vector which seems personally meaningful in a number of ways.

a vector
To me, the phrase vector thinking has several meanings:
  1. In geometry, a vector is one of the most primitive shapes, just slightly more complex than a single point.  In this way, vector thinking refers to propositional logic in which atomic ideas can be built up to form more complex systems.
  2. In visual design, vectors or lines are used to separate one thing from another -- a fundamental form of organization.
  3. In math, a vector is a point and a direction. In this way, a vector represents movement and change. It implies starting from one place and moving. The destination is not defined.
So the idea of this blog is to break things down, organize them and then pick a direction and move forward. I will certainly post some stories about my field of software development, but I would like to also touch on other aspects of life.
